Direct care team members are the lifeblood of an assisted living community. Without them, nurses are over-run and over-worked.

In Texas, a registered nurse may delegate certain tasks to unlicensed personnel under the Board of Nursing rules in 22 TAC Chapter 225, which covers residents whose conditions are stable and predictable. Chapter 224 covers delegation where conditions are acute. Neither treats delegation as a one-time signature: the RN has to assess the resident, evaluate the person taking on the task, teach it, supervise it, and re-evaluate at regular intervals. Our training is built around that cycle, because that is the part most programs skip.
